The 4% rule suggests you can safely withdraw 4% of your portfolio annually without running out of money for 30+ years. This means your FIRE number is 25x your annual expenses.

### Savings Rate Matters

Your savings rate is the most powerful factor. A 50% savings rate can get you to FIRE in ~17 years, while a 75% savings rate can do it in ~7 years, regardless of income level.
